“New Wine Ministries believes that churches are formed to change the world.”

From this principle the Gathering Place concept was born.

We are more than a traditional church building that is used only on Sunday and Wednesday nights. The Gathering Place is a center of community activity in the Meridian area.

All people regardless of human condition can find a place to rest, recover, and renew their spirit.

In “The Great Good Place”, sociologist Ray Oldenburg highlights the importance of “third places.”  Oldenburg laments the loss of “third place” like the old country store and soda fountain and says that people need informal meeting places away from the concerns of work and home.  Our goal is to help establish a third place around the church building.

The Gathering Place’s philosophy is to bring together the non-believer and the believer into the same environment so they may build a stronger community.

Pastor Terrence Roberts is the Pastor/Lead Dreamer of New Wine Ministries in Meridian, MS.  We currently meet in the Gathering Place-East, 1501 16th Avenue.

The Gathering Place-East is a multi-purpose ministry center. You can call it Evangelistic Architecture, it is a building with the purpose to bring people of different walks of life together. Our focus is to really reach OUT and MEET people, both believers and those who are searching to find God.

Now you’ll never again have an excuse to complain about there being nothing to do in Meridian.  The first Thursday of every month, join us at The Gathering Place-East for Espresyo Soul.  This event will be the kick-off for the new location of The Gathering Place the home of New Wine Ministries.  Local performers will turn out to entertain us with music, singing, poetry, spoken word, storytelling and more. This September marks the 3rd season of Espresyo Soul.  Every year it seems that the performances just keep getting better and better.

The Gathering Place-East is the perfect place to host your next event. The Sanctuary offers a beautiful traditional place for your wedding ceremony, and banquet room down stairs could host a beautiful reception seating up to 300 people.

We hope to begin renting the Gathering Place-East in January 2011.
